    Temporary Commissary Keeper

    Summary: Encompasses the skilled professional and technical work in the routine daily tasks of the Commissary. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Temporary position.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct a comprehensive range of duties including ordering, receiving, and maintaining food and supplies, stocking, cleaning, organizing, food and product delivery, and record keeping duties for the Commissary
  • Daily cleaning of all Commissary areas including browse cooler, hay barn, around the outside of the buildings
  • Safely utilize equipment to carry out duties for diet preparation, food bin assembly, and delivery. Ensure all equipment is safe and functional and vehicles are clean and properly maintained.
  • Provide proactive, positive customer service, communicating and collaborating effectively with teams on needs and issues
  • Operate in accordance and compliance with the occupational Health and Safety Act and all CZBG safety policies
  • Ensure all fellow employees work in a safe manner with appropriate protective equipment, and that all accidents and hazards within the area of responsibility are promptly reported to the appropriate parties
  • Desired Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Commissary keepers have a unique role in providing service to many areas of the zoo and must possess and utilize excellent communication, customer service skills and efficient use of their time
  • This position requires a person to be detail-oriented and able to complete certain tasks within an allotted period
  • Truck driving responsibilities may require driving both inside and outside the Zoo.
  • Must become forklift & bobcat certified within 180 days of appointment
  • Must be able to drive trucks with either a manual or automatic transmission
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable through the Zoo's auto/equipment policy
  • Working Conditions: This position is physically taxing. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; climb or balance; grasp; and negotiate stairs and ladders. In addition, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and must be able to lift/move/carry 50-75 pounds on a routine basis, without mechanical assistance. Employees will drive carts and Zoo trucks and utilize equipment and cutting utensils on a daily basis.

    Off days will be Saturday and Sunday.
