    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Plant Accounting Specialist is responsible for recording and maintaining plant records in conjunction with the work order closing process; and provides back up support for the Purchasing Coordinator.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Internal Responsibilities - Works collaboratively with the Accountant II and other cooperative staff to ensure cooperative plant accounting and work order records are accurately recorded and completed in a timely manner.

    External Responsibilities - Communicates with external federal, state, and local agencies related to reimbursement billing and grant reporting. Assists in coordination of make- ready invoicing with cooperative telecommunication partners.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
    1. Consistently demonstrates a behavioral pattern that supports DREMC's 11 Essential Attributes.
    2. Accountable for completion of work orders in all related computer systems after verification.
    3. Works closely with district operations personnel & engineering personnel to ensure correct and adequate information on all work orders submitted is correct. Problem resolution required when staking sheet, material, or labor information verification results in further research.
    4. Summarizes costs by accounts and closes work orders to the proper accounts.
    5. Assists with management of open work order subsidiary ledger to the general ledger.
    6. Assist with month end closing procedures.
    7. Responsible for verification of vehicle gasoline purchases and invoicing, along with maintaining vehicle gas cards for DREMC fleet.
    8. Assist with preparation of annual reports including TVA annual report and RUS Form 7.
    9. Assists with troubleshooting during annual physical inventory activities.
    10. Assist with federal, state and local storm and grant related reporting.
    11. Prepare and coordinate post work order completion billing.
    12. Manage damage billing and coordination with insurance companies.
    13. Invoice reconciliation including receipt verification.
    14. Input of physical assets in current cooperative physical asset database.
    15. Assist with annual review of fixed assets for cooperative.
    16. Backup to Purchasing Coordinator with receiving and routing for approval all invoicing for computer system for cooperative.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education - Associate degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university required; bachelor's degree preferred.

    Experience - Minimum three (3) years of experience in accounting required. General electric utility experience will be considered in lieu of accounting experience. Experience in procurement and inventory related fields a plus. Experience in general utilities, contracting or construction is preferred.

    Certification/License, etc. - Certificates and/or licenses relevant to utilities, purchasing, accounting or inventory control are preferred. Satisfactory completion of CFC Work order course required within six months of position. Valid Tennessee Driver's License or ability to obtain license prior to first day of employment is required. Must be eligible to remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative's group liability policy for the automotive fleet.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - An understanding of the electric utility industry and accounting desired. Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the work order process flow used by an electric utility. Must be analytical and detail oriented. Must have ability to learn multiple software systems. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
