    The Mobility Aide is responsible for safely ambulating patients in the acute care setting, addressing the risk of immobility. They guide eligible patients through the program, utilizing suitable ambulation devices, and educate them on associated risks. The role involves motivating and encouraging patients to mobilize.

    The Mobility Aide may assist with lift equipment maintenance and inventory ensuring alignment with Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, and values.


    • Compliments and supports therapists and nurses in the mobility of patients according to established standards of care.
    • Performs designated routine patient mobilization tasks.
    • Demonstrates proper ability to transfer and ambulate patients safely.
    • Prioritizes patient list based on diagnosis, mobility level, and patient schedule.
    • Provides data collected on patient mobilization to the appropriate therapist or nurse.
    • Recognizes, responds, and reports changes in the patient's condition.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate effectively with patients, families, co-workers, and other health professionals in order to promote the highest functioning possible of the patient.
    • Intermediate computer knowledge; Microsoft Office
    • Verbal, writing, reading, and patient relation skills
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
