Job summary
This job involves performing skilled and semi-skilled labor in the maintenance and operation of a water distribution system. The apprentice position will perform tasks such as installing and maintaining pipes, fire hydrants and valves, meters and service connections.The role requires frequent contact with the general public and frequent contact with other city employees. Work involves operating various mechanical and power tools, along with heavy equipment.
The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position.
- Installs and maintains water distribution system including pipes, fire hydrants and valves.
- Maintains legible accurate records of maintenance operations.
