    Description
    General Purpose of the Position:
    The Construction Cost Analyst is responsible for analyzing and monitoring financial aspects of data center construction projects. This role involves working closely with project teams, estimating departments, and financial stakeholders to ensure accurate cost projections, adherence to budgets, and effective financial management throughout the construction lifecycle.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Cost Estimation:
    • Collaborate with estimators and project managers to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for data center construction projects
    • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to identify cost components
    Budget Development:
    • Assist in the development of project budgets, considering labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs
    • Collaborate with project teams to establish realistic budgetary constraints
    Cost Tracking:
    • Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction lifecycle
    • Regularly update cost reports to reflect actual expenditures and compare against budgeted amounts
    Variance Analysis:
    • Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual costs
    • Investigate and report on the causes of variances, providing recommendations for corrective action
    Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development of financial forecasts for ongoing and upcoming data center construction projects
    • Work with project teams to anticipate and address potential cost overruns
    Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare regular financial reports summarizing project costs, budget status, and financial projections
    • Communicate financial information to project managers and senior management as needed
    Change Order Analysis:
    • Analyze change orders to assess their impact on project costs
    • Collaborate with project teams to evaluate and negotiate change order pricing
    Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess potential financial risks associated with data center construction projects
    • Work with project teams to develop strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
    Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain organized and accurate records of project costs, estimates, and financial reports
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements

    Required Job Skills:
    • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
    • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting
    • Knowledge of construction accounting principles
    Computer Equipment and Software:
    • Familiar with budgeting software
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Procore
    Education and Experience:
    Certification:
    • Relevant certifications or training in budgeting software and tools.
    Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
    Experience:
    • Proven experience as a cost analyst in the construction industry, with a focus on data center projects preferred.
