- Consults with Physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions for patients.
- Performs nutrition screening, nutrition assessments and consults for acute in-patients, extended care residents, home health, hospice and cancer center patients.
- Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical conditions of patients.
- Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
- Teaches nutrition and diet therapy, presents workshops, participates in special events.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.

- Registered Dietician (RD) with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) - Upon hire
- Nevada Dietician with the State of Nevada as a Licensed Dietitian - Within 3 months of hire into job
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - Within 3 months of hire into job
- Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS certification) - Within 3 months of hire into job

Summary
Responsible for the implementation of quality nutritional care including patient interviews, assessment of nutritional status, intervention, and monitoring in the acute hospital and long-term care. Outpatient services areas include: Cancer Center, Diabetes Clinic, Home Health and Hospice, and Care Coordination. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, nutrition support (enteral and parental nutrition), diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, oncology, dysphagia, and food allergies. Interdisciplinary communication, discharge care planning, and referral to community outreach programs will also be provided as appropriate. The RDN will also serves as a resource in the development of policies and procedures related to nutritional care.
