    Job Summary:

    Registered Nurses deliver patient care using the nursing process, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care and desired outcomes. They interact with patients and their significant others, upholding the standards of professional nursing and providing direct, individualized care based on scientific nursing principles. Due to the diverse medical conditions encountered, Registered Nurses must be proficient in a wide range of health issues.

    In addition to patient care, Registered Nurses are expected to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives, adhering to the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act.

    Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide care for patients of all ages and acuity levels. These patients present with a variety of illnesses and injuries at varying and unpredictable paces, requiring continuous prioritization of both patients and nursing interventions to maintain safe and efficient care.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Education:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program

    Minimum Work Experience:

    • No previous experience required

    Required Licenses/Certifications:

    • Registered Nurse
    • ACLS to be completed within 90 days of hire
    • TNCC to be completed within 18 months of hire
    • PALS or ENPC to be completed within 6 months of hire
    • BLS - must be completed before initiating patient contact
    • NIHSS to be completed within 90 days of hire

    Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

    • Self-initiative: actively contribute to ED flow and throughput
    • Sense of urgency: provide safe, fast, effective care regardless of acuity or census
    • Adaptability: adjust constantly to meet acuity, volume intensity, and situational demands in the emergency department
    • Professional appearance and decorum at all times; the ED is the 'front door' to the hospital
    • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
