    Job Purpose:

    The CDT (Clean Deburr Tumble) Operator is responsible for prepping in-process parts using deburring, sanding, and polishing applications. Performs manual deburring techniques by utilizing hand tools and pneumatic grinders to smooth edges of machined parts. Working under direct supervision, operators perform basic deburr operations such as edge breaking and simple surface finishing tasks using various deburring tools to establish surface quality and dimensional integrity required by the customer and controlled requirements.


    Primary objectives:

    1. Deburr parts using mechanical means (hand tools and pneumatic grinders)
    2. Ability to visually identify and remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material from manufactured components as needed to maintain part quality and productivity.
    3. Blending/smoothing areas of parts with the use of dual-action sanders, abrasive, and buffing wheels.
    4. Operates tumblers, timesaver, buffing machines, and wash tanks with correct procedure.
    5. Cleaning and washing parts to remove manufacturing oils, dirt, debris, and tumbler residue.
    6. Standard PPE is required for this position due to grinding, sanding, and deburring which could produce flying particles of metal, which can cause eye and skin injuries. Safety glasses, dust mask and ear protection devices are required.
    7. Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexed and intricate machined parts.
    8. Visually and dimensionally inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with the drawing requirements.
    9. Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints, drawings, flowcharts, and build plans.
    10. Ability to train necessary part preparation activities to fellow employees.
    11. Receive in-house training in areas of hazardous material policies, procedures, and general workplace safety.
    12. Possess flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks independently in an organized manner.
    13. Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
    14. Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with co-workers.
    15. Occasionally assist in performing manual tasks in other productive areas.
    16. Executes work prioritized by their supervisor.
    17. Record all work performed via computer using SAP transactions.
    18. Contact supervisor in the event of any discrepancies.
    19. Clean up work area at end of shift.
    20. Adheres to applicable Martin Baker America operating procedures and work instructions at all times.

    Key Accountabilities


    1. Provide labor, technical, and maintenance support for the heat treat area.
    2. Provide labor, technical, testing, and maintenance support as needed.
    3. Possess ability to provide support with multiple product line.

    Experience/Education:

    Required:

    Position requires a High School diploma or GED.

    Specific Skills:

    Communications

    Position requires accurate and complete verbal and written communication skills between Department Supervisors and production line employees.

    Technical Ability

    Position requires the ability to operate and use computer and make complete and accurate entries into preformatted screens. Possess general math skills. Ability to read and interrupt complicated blueprints, drawings, flowcharts, and build plans. Have ability to make minor adjustments to machines. Be able to bring up "work to list" in SAP. Ability to use hand tools (air grinder, belt sander, file, abrasive wheels, buffing wheels, utility knives, manual deburring hand tools etc.)

    Position requires the ability to display leadership of other personnel not under direct

    Other Requirements:


    Physical Ability

    Position requires to sit, stand, bend, and move frequently throughout the facility. Will be required to lift material not exceeding 50 lbs.

    Travel

    Occasional local travel is expected with this position.

    Work Environment

    The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields. For the most part the employee will be exposed to ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment.
