    The Position

    Health Program Specialists plan, develop, implement and evaluate health services and activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; provide technical information regarding specialized health related conditions; and participate and provide support to various committees, advisory boards and other work groups.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

    Behavioral Health:

    Chronic Disease is recruiting for a Health Program Specialist 1 (Woman's Health Connection Program Coordinator) in Carson City, NV.

    The purpose of the position is to oversee and coordinate activities for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-funded Women's Health Connection Program (WHC).

    Responsibilities include grant management and oversight to ensure WHC screening, patient navigation, data reporting, public and provider education and outreach activities, fiscal tracking to comply with State and federal requirements, and contract management.

    The position will perform grant writing, reporting, programmatic implementation/oversight, budget development and fiscal monitoring for the WHC program.

    The position will monitor and provide technical assistance to sub-awardees and various community partners to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and funding guidelines and will participate in the maintenance and enhancement of the Cancer Screening and Tracking (CaST) data system and associated modules.

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a public health, health science, social or behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and two years of professional health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas:

    researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet federal, agency, or other standards and guidelines; providing prevention, identification or treatment services to individuals or populations who have been diagnosed or are at risk of contracting life and health threatening diseases and/or conditions; and/or investigation and prevention of communicable or chronic diseases; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, health science, social or behavioral science, or closely related field and three years of professional experience as described above; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Health Program Specialist Trainee II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    This position requires a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
