- Provide oxygen therapy.
- Deliver aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy.
- Execute COPD care program.
- Perform airway management.
- Conduct incentive spirometry.
- Clean and maintain respiratory therapy equipment.
- Administer bronchial hygiene and chest physiotherapy.
- Handle cardiopulmonary resuscitation and manual ventilation.
- Collect and analyze arterial blood samples.
- Operate mechanical ventilators and manage settings per protocols.
- Perform electrocardiography and pulmonary function testing.
- Conduct overnight pulse oximetry.
- Act as a preceptor to new employees and respiratory therapy students.
- Take on the role of charge respiratory therapist when needed.
- Assist in research projects as directed.
- Provide education to patients, families, and staff.
- Participate in hospital meetings and committees.

Job Summary / Purpose
The Registered Respiratory Therapist, also known as **RRT**, brings in-depth knowledge of respiratory care and demonstrates expertise in caring for individuals of all age ranges within the facility. Acting professionally and with courtesy towards patients, healthcare personnel, and visitors is pivotal for success in this role. By tightly integrating into the respiratory care team, the incumbent plays a key part in enhancing departmental productivity and organizational goals, all while upholding the **CommonSpirit** mission of providing hope and healing to all.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
The ideal candidate should hold the equivalent of an Associate's Degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited program.
Required Licensure and Certifications
LIC:
KY
RRT
BLS-CPR within 5 days
ACLS within 3 months
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
Effective interpersonal communication skills are crucial for interacting with patients, visitors, and healthcare teams. Solid critical thinking abilities to assess patient conditions and recommend interventions when needed are required. Time management skills are necessary for organizing tasks and providing quality care. Proficiency in English at the twelfth-grade level is essential to this role, ensuring clear communication and patient safety. Adaptability, teamwork, and a customer service-oriented approach are key to success in this position. Basic computer knowledge is also important for maintaining patient records and documentation.
Pay Range
$40.17/hour
