    Job Summary:The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials and specialized imaging equipment. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to obtain high-quality images and ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Patient Preparation: Interview and educate patients about the procedures, addressing any concerns and obtaining necessary medical history.
    • Explain the procedures and ensure patient comfort and cooperation during imaging studies.
    • Radiopharmaceutical Administration: Administer radioactive materials to patients through injections, inhalation, or oral ingestion, as prescribed by physicians.
    • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and take appropriate actions when necessary.
    • Imaging Procedures: Operate and calibrate specialized imaging equipment such as gamma cameras and PET scanners.
    • Position patients and ensure proper alignment for optimal image quality.
    • Acquire and process images according to established protocols.
    • Quality Control: Perform routine quality control tests on imaging equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
    • Maintain compliance with radiation safety regulations and protocols.
    • Collaboration: Collaborate with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret and analyze imaging results.
    • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to provide relevant information for patient care.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including information about administered doses and imaging protocols.
    • Ensure proper documentation of procedures and patient information in electronic health records.
    • Safety: Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and protocols to minimize exposure to radiation for both patients and staff.
    • Implement infection control measures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
    • Continuing Education: Stay informed about advances in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Compliance: NM Techs are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.

    Qualifications:
    • Certification from a recognized accrediting body, such as the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
    • CA DPH State License
    • Venipuncture and Fluoroscopy Certification
    • Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
    • Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
    • Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months
    • Current Annual Health Clearance
    • Reliable source of transportation
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Possible floating between facilities (separate days)
