- Ability to establish written rules and regulation
- Ability to enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
- Ability to coach individual participants in skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Ability to plan and schedule with the Supervisor of Athletics regular program of practice in season.
- Ability to work closely with Supervisor in scheduling interscholastic contests
- Ability to recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
- Ability to maintain and complete necessary attendance forms, insurance records, accident reports and similar paperwork.
- Ability to oversee safety conditions of the facility or areas in which assigned sport event is conducted.
- Ability to provide for orderly distribution and collection of all athletic equipment.
- Three years successful experience in the identified coaching area.
- Successful experience in working with staff, students and parents in an urban setting.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of Hartford Public Schools' regulations regarding coaching and athletics
- Experience and knowledge with CIAC and NFHS regulations

REPORTS TO: Principal
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Within the framework of the entire athletic program, provides ongoing development and improvement of coaching student-athletes through coordination, planning, evaluation and implementation of programs. In addition, help each student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Current teachers on staff must have a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Must hold a current Coaching Permit issued by the CT State Department of Education, a valid First Aid & CPR certification, and a current Concussion Training or Refresher Course (Module 15). Must complete Mandated Reporter Training and any other required district trainings upon hire.
