    Summary/Objective:


    The Electrical Engineering Supervisor will work with a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers, Drafters, and Field Engineers responsible for the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.


    Technical Duties and Responsibilities:


    Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power substation and distribution systems.

    Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
    Develop design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for system improvement projects related to substations and distribution systems.
    Manage and utilize GIS applications for large-scale electrical distribution systems site maps, asset management, planning, and design.
    Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects, develop concept design, and present the design to Management and the customer.
    Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects.
    Keep up to date with utility industry standards and codes. Enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for our O&M, replacement/renewable and new installations.
    Develop and maintain design and construction standards.
    Manage and update service connection manuals for designated sites.
    Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, system loading scenarios and assist crew to implement corrective actions.
    Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution systems.
    Develop/review complex electrical system models and validate various system study findings/recommendations.
    Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus.
    Create system model for large-scale power system in ETAP (or similar software) and perform various power system analysis/studies.
    Develop bill of material and technical specifications for various electrical projects.
    Schedule and attend field walk-downs with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to understand and determine project requirements.
    Perform field take-offs/evaluations for estimate preparation.
    Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency.
    Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.
    Assist construction personnel throughout the project life cycle in tracking and understanding the basis of cost estimate.

    Review engineering and design drawings, documents, and other work and provide technical and business case feedback to direct report engineers.

    Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.

    Project Management and Business Development Duties:
    Preparation of project construction schedules.
    Submission of request for Information (RFI) to clients.
    Acting as main point of contact for projects and facilitating design/review process.
    Coordinating meetings, scheduling updates, submitting deliverables, and addressing outstanding open items as requested by clients.
    Participate in business development activities such as customer meetings, presentations, conferences etc.
    Assist business development team in refining marketing strategies, website contents, and customer presentations.
    Actively participate in developing technical proposals and engineering estimates for ELPE external customer RFPs.


    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
    Oversees and supervises all members of the assigned direct report team.

    Ensures each member of the team maintains and upkeeps with tasks, priorities, schedule, and deliverables per their job descriptions, role, and responsibilities.

    Updates and maintains all the engineering projects schedule, budget, and timelines for their team.
    Facilitates team building activities to encourage teamwork, collaboration, and interactions between team members and other teams.

    Helps improve efficiency and quality of engineering products/services by implementing rigorous review process, facilitating constructive feedback, and organizing training programs for the assigned team.

    Provides constructive and timely job performance evaluations.
    Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.


    Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:
    Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree from accredited university with emphasis in power systems required.
    Minimum of seven (5+) years work experience in the electrical utility industry.
    Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to motivate, provide guidance and oversee daily responsibilities.
    Expert knowledge with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution system required.
    Expert with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination required.
    Experienced in blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services required.
    Ability to prepare and maintain construction project schedules in Microsoft Project.
    Experience with ETAP or similar software.
    PE License required.
    Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
    Must have multi-tasking, self-management, and interpersonal communications skills.
    Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish.


    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
    This is a full-time exempt position. Work hours are Monday through Friday. In office work is expected Wednesdays and Thursdays when not traveling. The ability and availability to travel, attend meetings and functions outside typical business hours required.


    Travel:
    Travel between job sites expected with 40-50% overnight travel expected.


    Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
    You must be a US Citizen.
    Military Base Security Clearance is required for this position.
    Valid drivers license required with a record that meets our Fleet Policy.
