    Safety and HR Coordinator

    Kimbro Oil Company – Nashville, TN

    Full-Time

    Overview: The Safety and HR Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees within the organization while also assisting with human resources general functions and functions related to safety policies, procedures, and compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and safety regulations, HR practices, and effective communication skills to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards. Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to mitigate risks and hazards in the workplace.
    2. Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal regulations.
    3. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of commercial vehicles, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with DOT standards.
    4. Conduct annual IFTA, IRP, and renewal of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
    5. Coordinate driver training programs on DOT regulations, defensive driving techniques, and hazardous material handling.
    6. Monitor driver qualification files and ensure compliance with DOT requirements for licensing, medical certificates, and driving records.
    7. Investigate accidents, incidents, and violations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    8. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to DOT and OSHA compliance.
    9. Provide safety training and orientation for new employees, as well as ongoing training for existing staff.
    10. Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and improve safety performance.
    11. Serve as the primary point of contact for workers' compensation and auto claims. Coordinate with insurance providers, medical professionals, and legal counsel to facilitate the claims process and ensure employee well-being.
    12. Assist with HR functions such as employee onboarding, offboarding, and performance management. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations related to safety, including ADA, FMLA, DOT, and OSHA standards.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Management, Human Resources, or related field; or five (5) years related experience and/or training.
    • Knowledge of DOT regulations, CDL requirements, and Hazardous Materials transportation.
    • Proven experience in transportation safety, preferably in the trucking and motor carrier industry.
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and safety management software.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
