    Job Description:

    The Production Management program seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member who is a motivated practitioner with demonstrated expertise in materials and production management to teach courses in flexible materials and their applications, cutting room processes, facilities management, computer-based costing, technical operation research applications as they relate to the apparel and fashion industries.

    The candidate will demonstrate working knowledge of PDM or PLM software and Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel. Preferred candidates will have experience in 3D body scanning and 3D printing and prototyping, and have industry-appropriate certifications, (ex. Six Sigma, MOS, etc.).

    The successful candidate will be current in industry advancements and emerging trends with a passion for empowering students to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits while embracing academic scholarship. The primary responsibility will be teaching to deliver engaging lectures that promote active learning and encourage critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills; to develop and expand on curriculum in the areas of manufacturing, supply chain and raw material management, and total quality management. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

    Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising students and identifying opportunities through mentoring, internships, seminars, and industry functions while cultivating strategic alliances with industry and other academic institutions.

    The successful candidate will serve an integral role in the planning and implementation of the strategic goals for the program, participate in department, School, and college-wide committee service, and support accreditation and administrative activities as required.

  • Incorporate instructional variety to service students of different learning styles, abilities, demographics, and diversity.

  • Demonstrate the ability to inspire interest, curiosity, creativity, and love of learning in students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods to foster critical thinking, design thinking, and creative problem-solving and team-building skills.
  • Incorporate interdisciplinary learning into the Production Management curriculum.
  • Demonstrate currency in the industry, including new technology and the ability to incorporate changes into a progressive curriculum.
  • Embrace new forms of pedagogy including online teaching, blended classes, workshops, flipped classrooms, and experiential learning.

    Technology
  • Utilize course management systems and demonstrate capability in utilizing multimedia technology to deliver course material and enhanced learning experiences to students.
  • Possess industry-specific technology skills and demonstrate effective utilization of standard textile testing and quality assurance equipment to deliver course content and convey applied learning concepts and experiences to students, including but not limited to proficiency in PC and/or MAC-based operating systems, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Adobe Suite.
  • Utilize appropriate technology to communicate with students and to engage with the material outside the classroom.

    Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Candidates must have a master's degree in business or a related field to the fashion industry or enrolled in a master's degree program, in progress to completion.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in the global fashion industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry-appropriate certifications, Six Sigma, MOS certificates.
  • Experience with and working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and 3D modeling concepts and applications.
  • Understanding of pattern making and garment construction.
  • College-level teaching or instruction experience.

    The final starting salary and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience; Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) pg. 72

    Instructor: $59,673- $69,524
    Assistant Professor: $69,475- $102,388
    Associate Professor: $81,317- $122,427
    Professor: $99,159- $149,217
