    Summary

    Responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs that meet internal requirements as well as compliance with government regulations and/or industry consensus requirements.

    Maintains knowledge of current industry and regulatory EHS trends and provides subject matter expertise (SME). Assists with creating short and long range plans to continuously improve EHS practices and procedures.

    Demonstrates self-motivation with the ability to take on projects and execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision. Additionally, possesses strong interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment of rapport and fostering of relationships with stakeholders across various departments and levels of the organization.

    Responsibilities

    Job Responsibility
    • Implement, monitor, and participate in the development of site EHS programs including but not limited to: hazardous waste, chemical safety/ chemical hazard awareness, biosafety, ergonomics, LOTO, GMP, confined space, electrical safety, hazmat shipment oversight and contractor/ construction safety
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental and occupational regulations and permits. Perform various EHS related inspections of laboratories and facilities. Complete environmental and hazardous material regulatory reporting as needed.
    • Good working knowledge of risk assessment tools and techniques including, but not limited to job hazard analyses, hazardous chemicals; Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and improve workplace safety by collaborating with stakeholders.
    • Conduct accident/incident investigations to identify root-causes & implement corrective action; Ensure closure of safety-related corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) and recommendations from various corporate organizations and internal/external audits
    • Respond to emergency situations, coordinating with emergency responders as needed
    • Develop, prepare, coordinate & deliver EHS training and implement other training programs as needed
    Qualifications

    Knowledge/ Skills Needed

    Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements and technical codes of practice (OSHA, EPA, ANSI, and NFPA). Excellent interpersonal skills, highly effective written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. High level of personal and professional integrity. Self-starter; highly detail- and outcome-oriented. Strong organizational, collaborative and interpersonal skills. Successfully working in a cross functional team environment is necessary. Proficient in Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Visio and PowerPoint.

    Education & Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's Degree - EHS, environmental sciences, or closely related discipline required. 4-6 years of progressive experience in a safety, industrial hygiene or environmental role. Knowledge of FDA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations and requirements.
