The Building Services department is seeking a Utility Custodian. This position supplements daily cleaning crew to perform routine custodial duties and completes special cleaning projects as assigned. Job responsibilities include:

Relieves due to absence or supplements daily cleaning crew.

+ These work duties include trash removal,dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming floors, dusting, waxing and operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment

Examples of areas cleaned are classrooms, offices, labs, restrooms, locker rooms, stairwells, halls, public areas, elevators, athletic floors and any area requiring routine cleaning of University buildings

Supplies restrooms with hand towels, soap, other supplies and performs related work as required and instructed by supervisor

Completes special cleaning projects which include stripping and refinishing floors, carpet cleaning scrubbing floors, cleaning furniture, walls, partitions, window cleaning, carpet spotting

Operates all equipment used in the department such as floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, burnishers and other specialized equipment.

Completes special cleaning assignments as assigned.

Replaces accessible light bulbs, assists with special event set-ups, movement of supplies and furniture

Completes assigned work orders that may be necessary when required by University staff

Shovels snow at building entrances, notifies supervisor or writes work orders regarding equipment or facilities needing repair

****Required****

One year custodial cleaning experience

Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment

Must have a valid drivers license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy

Must be able to move 10 to 25 pounds frequently

Criminal Conviction Records check required because the employee will have key to buildings, offices and other sensitive areas

**Preferred:**

Familiarity with campus buildings
