    Responsibilities


    Under the direction of the Administrator or Director of Nursing, performs all management and supervisory duties and tasks as required to ensure the safe, efficient, and expedient operation and function of the surgical Materials and Sterile Processing Department.


    Responsible for organizing, planning, directing and coordinating operations within the Materials and Sterile Processing departments while maintaining and ensuring a level of quality.

    Responsible for Materials Management procurement, storage, control and distribution of materials and products to meet company objectives.

    Develops and implements processes to maintain accurate perpetual inventory and item masters.
    Examines materials for defects and ensures materials are satisfactory and up to the proper level of standard for usage and effectiveness
    Responsible for maintaining adequate surgical supplies, instruments, equipment, linens and other surgery center materials.
    Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective and/or preventive measures
    Adheres to written policies of the Surgery Center
    Participates in the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program
    Participates in task forces and committees as assigned
    Demonstrates willingness to learn and accept changes
    Responsible for completing mandatory classes relative to job responsibilities at the Surgery Center (OSHA and other safety related classes)
    Participates in the orientation of new employees
    Works in cooperation with the Business Office Manager to ensure accurate patient billing
    Participates in employee interviews, performance improvement plans, reviews
    Assigns and manages staff validations
    Coordinates staff meetings / huddles
    Participates in employee interviews, performance improvement plans, staff reviews
    Contract Manager – Prepares, negotiates, and manages vendor contracts, GPO & distribution including pricing, supply usage agreements,
    Manage vendor meetings
    Manage critical documents binder
    Manage leases
    Implement new safety products with annual reviews and review annual safety products
    Manages surgical procedure codes / surgeon preference cards
    Assists with staff education for supplies / instrumentation / equipment
    Manages the preventative maintenance program for the facility
    Maintains License files.

    Qualifications


    Education:
    Associates in Applied Sciences / Certificate in Surgical Technology.

    Associates in Registered Nursing, or Must also have successful completion of BCLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BCLS certification.


    Experience:
    2 years minimum previous ASC / hospital purchasing
    2-3 years of managerial experience
    Knowledge of surgical procedures
    Management of item masters, inventory control, and savings initiatives.
    Shipping and receiving
    Surgical technology experience
    Contract management – GPO, Distribution, & Healthcare Affiliates
