Job Purpose

The Production Technician is responsible for fulfilling, packaging, and setting up materials according to protocol for shipping purposes. They will also be processing, rearing, and packaging live insects. They will perform daily quality checks on raw materials and finished products. The Production Technician will also be responsible for maintaining the hygiene of their work area. The person in this role will be expected to work in a cross functional environment, supporting other teams and departments while troubleshooting material and quality concerns.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Pull and pack product based on daily orders.
• Carry out quality checks on appearance, numbers, coding, etc.
• Assist in rearing schedule for live insects while following standard operating procedures.
• Organize and prepare parts and materials for wash.
• Record quality controls and inform team leader of any non-conformances.
• Maintain a sanitary and safe working area.
• Operate pallet jack, shipping software, and taping machine.
• Monitor and replenish inventory levels; assist with monthly inventory of warehouse materials.
• Continuous improvement proposals to better processes.
• Other duties as assigned by team leader.

Skills and Qualifications

• Highly detailed and organized.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Ability to scan, sort, pull, pack, and load materials.

Working Conditions

• Regular exposure to live insects including bumblebees and pollen.
• Regular exposure to hot and cold conditions.
• Required to wear specific PPE depending on the task at hand.
• Seasonal overtime may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly stand or walk for long periods.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
• Professional composure under pressure.
