Job Description:

Seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient AI Intern to join our IT team, focusing on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance analytics and data visualization using Power BI and/or other reporting tools. This internship is designed for a college student or recent college graduate who is passionate about AI, machine learning, and data-driven decision making, and who is eager to apply these interests within the realm of business intelligence, and AI based software development.

This is a dynamic role that offers the opportunity to work on real-world problems, assisting in the development and optimization of AI models that integrate with visualization platforms to provide actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic studies focused on AI, machine learning, or related fields, and will be looking to deepen their expertise in a business context.

Primary responsibilities & duties:

1. AI Model Development:
   • Utilize Azure Machine Learning to develop and train models that predict market trends and customer behavior based on historical data collected by 1-800 PackRat/ZippyShell.
   • Design and implement machine learning models to analyze large datasets.
   • Integrate AI models into Power BI to enhance data visualization and reporting capabilities.
2. Data Analysis and Visualization:
   • Utilize Power BI to create insightful, interactive dashboards and reports.
   • Perform data mining and statistical analysis to uncover trends and correlations.
3. Collaboration and Implementation:
   • Work closely with business analysts and data engineers to translate business requirements into robust AI solutions.
   • Assist in the deployment of AI models and ensure seamless integration with existing business intelligence systems.
4. Cognitive Enhancement:
   • Apply Azure Cognitive Services to enhance data analysis, using features like text analytics and vision APIs to extract insights from unstructured data, which can be visualized in Power BI.
5. Testing and Optimization:
   • Conduct rigorous testing to validate the performance of AI models.
   • Optimize models to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Establish a continuous feedback loop where the performance of the Azure AI integrations is regularly assessed and refined based on user interaction with the Power BI reports.

1. Research and Development:
   • Stay updated with the latest developments in AI, machine learning technologies, and business intelligence tools.
   • Propose and prototype new features to enhance the analytical capabilities of Power BI.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in developing machine learning models, preferably with exposure to business intelligence tools such as Power BI.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI or similar BI tools is highly desirable.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data and turn it into actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Communication Skills & Personal Characteristics:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively to management on project status, solutions, and blockers & alternatives
• Motivated and able to contribute to a team environment in multiple time zones
• Collaborate with other IT staff to help drive successful completion of project(s)
• Communicate with developers and quality assurance staff in architecture decision, code reviews, and issue resolution
• Be able to handle project(s) and activities in a timely, organized manner
• Be a creative problem solver, flexible, proactive and ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment

Role located in Wake Forest, NC. If remote, some travel required.
