    SUMMARY
    Provides Electrical design and managerial direction on Transportation and Civil engineering projects.

    Senior electrical engineer for the management and design of ITS, Lighting, Pump Stations for FDOT, County, City and Private Sector projects.

    Engineer for Buildings 40 Year Recertifications on the electrical. Conducts QA/QC reviews on designs, plan sets, and reports for FDOT, County, and City projects. Mentors other engineers and provides design and analysis solutions for electrical problems.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Provide independent QA/QC review of electrical (ITS, Lighting, Pump Stations) designs, ensuring strict compliance to all applicable governing design codes, safety regulations, and contract plans and specifications
    • Analyze and prepare project designs, calculations and drawings for fiber, ITS device communications, network communications, and signals, with a particular emphasis on complex or specialized designs
    • Prepare project reports such as Required Traceability Verification Matrices (RTVM), Concept of Operations (ConOps), Project System Engineering Management Plans (PSEMP), and ITS Power Reports; may also prepare lighting-related reports, such as Lighting Des
    • Assume lead role in complex electrical design efforts; may assign, track, and review tasks of technicians, designers, and engineers, ensuring adherence to project schedules; QC final work product
    • Provide constructability reviews; perform independent peer reviews on project submittals
    • Review contract plans and calculations from other engineering teams and outside entities to verify completion and compliance with governing ITS design codes and contract plans and specifications
    • Serves as the Engineer-of-Record for major, minor, and miscellaneous ITS and Pump Stations designs
    • Communicate high-level concepts effectively with team members, internal design groups, and external entities including clients, subconsultants, and relevant government agencies
    • Build client relationships, help identify business opportunities, meet with clients and have client accountability
    • Participate in project meetings with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors as necessary
    • Utilize Client Relationship Manager (CRM) to accurately report and track ongoing business opportunities and pursuits
    • Take an active role in proposal activities, including write-ups and preliminary and final reviews
    • Other marketing duties include providing timely resume updates, project write-ups, proposal support, and participating in marketing initiatives as required
    • Ensure timely completion of time sheets, expense reports, and labor hours management
    • Facilitate career development of junior engineers and designers through active mentorship, providing formal and informal feedback and seizing opportunities to develop and teach new skills
    • Identify skills and knowledge gaps within the department, seek opportunities to provide internal trainings, and identify worthwhile external training content

    COMPETENCIES

    • Proficient in some or all of the following programs: FDOTConnect, Auto CADD, FDOT Intelligent Transportation System Facilities Management (ITSFM) Software, and AGI-32 Lighting Design Software
    • Demonstrated proficiency in full suite of Microsoft office programs and Adobe Acrobat
    • Expert knowledge of FDOT Design Manual (FDM), National Electric Code (NEC), Florida Green Book, and Basis of Estimate Manual
    • Expert knowledge of electrical engineering
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently on multiple priorities, possessing excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Committed to delivering quality work products and the highest client satisfaction
    • Able to conceptualize project goals within a departmental context

    Requirements

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Florida PE License or ability to obtain within 6 months
    • Knowledge in electrical engineering and pump station electrical design
    • Demonstrated success in client service and project delivery
    • Participation in relevant Engineering Societies

    • Professional Engineer (PE)
