    Director of Nursing/Rehabilitation

    Reports To:

    IIPurpose: Responsible for overall Supervision, Management, and Resource utilization for the Rehabilitation and Nursing Departments to provide optimal quality of patient care services


    Qualifications:
    1. Registered Professional Nurse/New York State. 2. Minimum three years supervisory experience.3. Minimum five years experience in direct patient care. 4. Minimum three years teaching experience.5. Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.6. Rehabilitation Nursing Certification desired.7. Possess knowledge and understanding of Nursing Practice Act of 1973.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


    Conducts unit rounds twice daily to observe, discuss, and direct management activities of department Responsible for functioning as facility Administrator in the absence of the Administrator Responsible for overall supervision of activities of Rehabilitation and Nursing Services Responsible for supervision of the Registered Dietician and Diet Technician Responsible for directing the integrated functions of the Rehabilitation and Nursing Departments with the Senior Case Manager for Rehabilitation Services Responsible for Clinical Approval of all potential admissions for Long Term Care and Subacute Rehabilitation in conjunction with Attending Physician/Medical Director Responsible for supervision of the staffing levels in all Nursing units as completed by the Associate Director of Nursing DIRECTOR OF NURSING PAGE 2Responsible for supervision of Rehabilitation hiring and staffing maintenance requirements as completed by Senior Case Manager Responsible for development and implementation of Rehabilitation and Nursing policies and procedures in accordance with State, Federal, and JCAHO requirements Responsible for Nursing Department Budget and Providing Management Resource to Senior Case Manager for Rehabilitation budget development Oversees the Continuous Quality Improvement program for rehabilitation and nursing in conjunction with Quality Assurance RN and Senior Program Case Manager Responsible for supervision of Pharmaceutical Services of the facility as managed by Associate Director of Nursing and House Supervisor Responsible for supervision of Central Supply Coordinator to assure appropriate supply provision, inventory control, and maintenance and billing of nursing supplies Oversees the activities of the Associate Director of Nursing/Infection Control Officer to maintain appropriate Infection Control practice and prevention of Nosocomial Infection, etc Responsible for MDS 2.0 Coordinator to assure compliance with PSS Medicare requirements and MDS 2.0 Assessments Responsible for management of Quality Assurance RN completion of PRI Instrument for Medicaid reimbursement Meets daily with Administrator and designated Department staff to review all Incident/Accidents, census, Admission/Discharges, Medicare Status, and Patient/Family issues, etc Attends and/or conducts the following meetings: 1.

    Nursing Management Department Head Medical Staffing Meeting Monthly: 1)

    Resident Council Safety Committee Continuous Quality Improvement Facility based Marketing Quarterly: 1)

    Infection Control and Pharmacy Therapeutics Shift Administrative Staff Meetings Annual: 1)

    Patient Care Policy Review Governing Body DIRECTOR OF NURSING PAGE 3 Responsible for supervision and/or completion, and minimum of annual review of all Nursing and Rehabilitation policies and procedures Responsible for immediate investigation of nay reports of possible Patient Abuse, Neglect, or Mistreatment and recognition of signs of possible abuse this includes immediate notification of signs of possible abuse regulatory agencies Responsible for serving as program Coordinator for the Primary Instructors/ Education Coordinator for ongoing CNA 100 hour approved training program Responsible for implementation of teaching program for nursing and rehabilitation to assure that nursing and rehabilitation service provision meets the needs of all patients admitted and/or new skills required for potential new admissions are acquired Conduct research and development on a continuing basis to adapt and evaluate new philosophies of care, new equipment, and techniques and promote innovative approaches to all aspects of patient care Encourage Student Internships, preceptorships in nursing and rehabilitation to foster staff and student professional/educational growth and development Must possess current Regulatory knowledge
    • NYSDOH, JCAHO, Federal government, OSHA to develop and implement current policies and procedures to meet standards Participate in facility marketing program by:1.
    Presenting in-services to other Health Care Facilities concerning service provision. 2. Serving as a member of advisory board to TC3. 3.

    Serves on Long Term Home Health Care Quality Assurance/ Quality Improvement for Cortland County Responsible for following facility policy and procedure regarding Universal Precautions, OSHA Blood Borne Pathogens, Disaster Preparedness Duties, Workplace Violence and MSDS knowledge of Nursing Supplies/ Products, Exposure Policy, Infection Control Practices, Abuse recognition and reporting Communicates well with:
