    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Supervisor of the Electrodiagnostic Laboratory oversees the direct activities of the technologists working in the EEG Laboratory and the coordination laboratory staff schedule for both inpatient and outpatient operations. Teaches and performs all EEG modalities with a high degree of technical and professional competence. Monitors staff compliance and mandatory education. Develops and update policies, procedures and job descriptions. Maintains quality assurance. Evaluates job candidates, students and staff working in the EEG lab. Analyzes statistical data, evaluates expenses, prepares reports and makes budgetary recommendations based on historical data, projections and new business.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Oversees day to day operations of both inpatient and outpatient EEG laboratory. Responsible for staff scheduling.
  • Performs and displays mastery in all testing procedures performed in the EEG Lab.
  • Functions as a liaison and resource person to patients and family members, physicians and their staff, hospital staff and EEG technician coworkers.
  • Oversees the operational functioning of the equipment for proper function, inventory, operation, and cleanliness including corrections of malfunctions by working with multiple teams including Clinical engineering, Information Systems and Vendors.
  • Monitors billing work queues and responsible for billing accuracy for EEG departments, reports revenue issues and unusual volume trends to the manager; collaborates with professional billing.
  • . Responsible for ensuring lab adherence to State & Federal regulations and successful compliance of these regulatory agencies. Ensures that areas are survey ready at all times.
  • Designs/Participates in quality improvement projects within the Electrodiagnostic Lab in order to stream line processes and improve patient care; reviews and updates policies and procedures in coordination with the Manager and/or Medical Director/Chief of the Division
  • SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Assists in coordination of electrodiagnostic laboratory activities with other Penn Medicine and Childrens Hospital of Pennsylvania.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneuro-diagnostic technology program or an Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university or equivalent job related experience.
  • Credentialed in electro-encephalography (R.EEG T) .
  • 3 years of previous hospital experience in adult and pediatric electrodiagnostic testing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with EMG testing.
