    Summary:

    The responsibility of an Educational Paraprofessional is to assist with the teaching and learning activities being provided for children and other duties specified in the program. Paraprofessionals cannot assume complete responsibilities for instruction or classes.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Assists in classroom with teaching related activities with pupils under the directions of the teacher
    • Assists with one child, with small groups or with whole group activities
    • Assists teacher with clerical duties
    • Prepares materials for use in the classroom
    • Collects and displays student's work
    • Shows films and filmstrips
    • Maintains discipline standards according to the regulations of the school system and the assigned teacher(s)
    • Assists with bus duty
    • Assists students on field trips and community activities
    • Provides assistance to substitute teacher
    • Assists with specific tasks as requested by student needs
    • Assists with materials to help meet individual differences
    • Assists with organizing and arranging instructional activities
    • Attends faculty meetings and conferences when requested
    • Maintains discipline standards according to the regulations of the school system and the assigned teacher(s)
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by classroom teacher and/or site administrator(s)
    Other Duties:
    • Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
    • Assists all school personnel in copying needs so that the students and the schools public are well informed and assisted in the learning process.
    • Reviews the materials needed to complete the job and sees that necessary orders are placed.
    • Trouble shoots the machinery, and is in direct contact with the appropriate repair person as needed.
    • Assists in daily activities of the school, such as supervision, as required by the principal.
    Qualifications:

    Minimum of (1) year experience working with students and meets the standards of Highly Qualified Status. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or GED and completed two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college credit hours); or received an

    Associate's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher learning;

    or a minimum score of 450 on the ETS Parapro Exam.
    Licenses and Other Requirements:

    Computer skills, copy layout and design knowledge are preferred. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and

    written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents, students or employees of the district.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and multiples. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    can be required. Must be able to lift pounds. The employee usually works in doors. Occasionally the employee will work in confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Occasional exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather may occur.

Breach of said professional conduct includes, but is not limited to, neglect of duty, dishonesty, engagement in acts that are contrary to EBRPSS policy, unlawful activities, or any other conduct which is seriously prejudicial to the school system.
    Technological Abilities:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in general use of a computer, the use of Email as a form of communication, and other job-specific equipment, software, and/or applications.
