Overview:
The yoga instructor serves as an inspiration of including both the physical and mental self in the healing process. The yoga instructor introduces various yoga poses, yoga concepts and terminology, and safely guides participants through the flow of the practice. The yoga instructor should also be knowledgeable in mindful meditation.

Position reports to the Managing Director of Center.

Your role will involve:

• Conduct and lead yoga classes on Tuesdays (8:30am-3:00pm) and Fridays (8:30am-2:00pm).
• Visually assess participants to determine their level of practice.
• Assist participants to achieve accuracy in poses, even with modifications.
• Demonstrate practice and techniques.
• Possess the ability to move energy through the body.
• Transform energy during the warm-up, build-up and cool-down stages.
• Motivate participants with words of encouragement.
• Connect with participants during the yoga classes through rapport building, compassion, and patience.
• Offer training recommendations to improve the practice of yoga in personal lives.
• Set up and break down, clean up after class, and maintain any equipment used.
• Document group yoga sessions in the record system.

Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseThe right candidate will come with:

• Proven experience in the subject matter being taught and in teaching the adult learner.
• Must be able to generate full exercise classes (without notes) for a general group or modify them to fit the needs of our participants.
• Must have passion for health and wellness, coupled with knowledge of the anatomy of the human body and physiology.

• High quality verbal and written communication skills

Required education, licensure, and experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Yoga instruction 2-3 years
• Teaching (preferred)
• Experience working with justice-involved adults, or other vulnerable populations (preferred)
• Lived experience (preferred)
