- Leverage emerging technologies to design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions that align with business requirements and standards.
- Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, providing cross-training, technical guidance, and support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement network architecture standards and best practices.
- Research, evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to improve network performance and efficiency.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues across multiple platforms and technologies.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to network security and data privacy.
- Monitor network performance and capacity using various tools and methods, proactively identifying, and addressing potential issues.
- Manage and maintain network devices, software, and configurations, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, etc.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide timely response to network-related incidents and emergencies, as well as off-hours maintenance windows.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on designing and managing enterprise-level networks.
- Expert level knowledge in network protocols, standards, and technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, SD-WAN, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and QoS.
- Proficiency in network hardware and software platforms, including Cisco routers, Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches, cross-platform firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Exposure to next-gen network (NGN) technologies like SDWAN, SDN, automation etc
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, encryption, identity management and access control.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as Wireshark, PRTG, and Cisco DNA.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with cloud-based network services, such as Cloudflare, Zscaler, AWS, Azure and Cato Networks a plus.
- CCNP, CCIE or equivalent certification is preferred.

Position Responsibilities
This position is considered Hybrid and requires someone local to Deltek HDQ (Herndon, VA) to support 2 days per week in office (Tuesdays + 1 other day of candidate's choosing). Depending on workload, this may increase. Remaining days are flexible to remote work.
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key senior member of our network infrastructure operations team, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our network & security systems to ensure maximum performance, availability, and security, as well as providing technical guidance and support to other network engineers and IT staff.
