    Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.


    Background on the Position

    The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Market Risk Department (MRD) which is a team dedicated to providing governance and oversight of all market risk arising from the Firm's business activities.

    The successful candidate will join the Data Strategy team that focuses on the MRD data management framework and standards and ensures MRD compliance with data components of regulatory initiatives.


    Primary Responsibilities


    • Identify and log the vulnerabilities in the market risk data infrastructure by investigating and analyzing data quality issues and data deficiencies
    • Monitor and report Market Risk related data issues and challenges (e

    Stress Testing, CCAR, ECB exercise, etc.)


    • Coordinate data quality and data availability related work with multiple partners across different regions (London, Budapest, Frankfurt, and Mumbai)
    • Participate in innovative projects related to data analysis, visualization, and process automation
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and partners distributed in different regions and teams
    • Balance between regular and development / ad-hoc related tasks
    Experience


    • Candidate must have a bachelor's degree at a minimum
    • Basic understanding of financial products is required, including familiarity with risk management concepts such as risk measures, option Greeks, etc. An entrepreneurial mindset and the motivation to develop risk processes and frameworks from scratch
    • Preferred strong proficiency with a variety of technology tools, including analyzing large data sets using tools such as Excel or SQL
    • Curious, willing to dig deeper into data and explore linkages (able to draw insights from finance and non-finance data)
    • Attention to detail, project management and prioritization skills will also be key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (incl. senior stakeholders)

    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $68,000 and $90,000 per year at the commencement of employment.

    However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
