Role Description

• Develop novel statistical models using state of the arts methods such as machine learning / AI to provide insight into trucking industries operational efficiencies, driving style and behavior, safety and many other attributes
• Provide insight into large data sets collected in real world by using quantitative and statistical analysis techniques; determine correlation and causation within complex datasets
• Identify valuable data sources, automate collection process, perform preprocessing and restructuring of data
• Analyze large amounts of data to identify trends, build predictive models and machine learning algorithms
• Create visualization and reporting
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams
• Lead a small team of data engineers and front-end and back-end developers

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

• Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science or related field
• Solid understanding of current research in data science including machine learning, deep-learning, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), and experience with industrial application of CNN on projects with large data scales
• Experience with multivariate analysis, i.e. PCA, correlation analysis, clustering, multidimensional scaling
• Experience with nonlinear modeling, advanced regression analysis, variable selection
• Experience with statistical software such as JMP
• Comfortable with ML and big data libraries and tools
• Passion for solving unstructured and non-standard mathematical problems and for learning every day
• Algorithms background, and strong experience in writing high-quality code in C++ and Python
• Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
• Strong mathematical background in one or more of the following areas: Numerical optimization, Supervised/Unsupervised/Reinforcement Learning, Clustering, Regression, Support Vector machines, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, Bayesian Statistics, Probability distributions, Correlation and causation analysis
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Statistical Analysis and Modeling, Big Data Analytics, Processing and Storage, Algorithms and data structures
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering
• Competency Matlab/Simulink and LabVIEW
• Experience in data mining and using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop)
• System knowledge of vehicle architectures and vehicle data
• Vehicle diagnostics design & development experience
• Highly skilled GitHub and/or other similar SCM tools
