- Providing input to implementation plans and standard operating procedures (SOP), planning and coordination of shore facility construction, relocation, and expansion projects, ensuring all Information Technology requirements are captured and integrated into relevant plans and documentation.
- Providing ongoing optimization and problem-solving support by reviewing existing Information Technology services to identify opportunities to remove unused services, reduce costs, maintain inventories, and track/manage IT service orders according to established policy and procedures for all Information Technology transport services.
- Providing recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades and upgrades by participating in project coordination meetings and conference calls with stakeholders; providing technical requirements for facility infrastructure; creating cost estimates for IT equipment and supplies and man-hour calculations for work completion; coordinate and/or perform technical reviews of installations and configurations of IT infrastructure and equipment; conducting final post-installation inspections.
- Coordinating and managing the overall service provided to a customer end-to-end by providing budget data and IT lifecycle support across the full spectrum of IT services as needed to meet organizational and departmental IT service objectives; providing technical expertise and overall management of the Information Technology infrastructure throughout the AOR.
- Gathering feedback on customer satisfaction and internal service performance to foster continual improvement.

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC), Infrastructure Services Division (ISD), Transport Services Branch (TSB), Designated Agency Representative (DAR), located in Portsmouth, VA; Alexandria, VA or Miami, FL.
Duties
You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CUSTSPT/INFOSEC) and be responsible for responsible for preparing, validating, processing, deploying, and managing telecommunications orders, policy, programs, data records, inventory, and contracts for IT infrastructure, circuits and services ordered from federal and local service providers throughout the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Typical work assignments include:
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
A. Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers Level I (FAC P/PM-I) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
B. Information Assurance Management Level II (IAM-II) or management determined equivalent within two years of entry into the position.
Recruitment Incentive - Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent position are authorized to receive a one-time recruitment incentive of 10% of the salary, including locality for this position. Receipt of the bonus will require a 12-month service agreement.
"Newly appointed" refers to the first appointment (regardless of tenure) as an employee of the Federal Government, an appointment following a break in service of at least 90 days from a previous appointment as an employee of the Federal Government, or, in certain cases, an appointment following a break in service of less than 90 days from a previous appointment as an employee of the Federal Government.
Relocation Incentive - Selectee(s) for this position who are current federal employees on permanent appointments and will be moving outside of the current commuting area of their current position to accept this position are authorized to receive a one-time relocation incentive of 10% of the salary including locality for this position. Receipt of the bonus will require a 12-month service agreement. The employee must establish a residence in the new geographic area prior to payment.
Student Loan – Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
