- Performs duties and job responsibilities in a fashion which coincides with the service management philosophy of UPMC Home Healthcare towards patients, visitors, staff, peers, physicians, and other departments within the organization.
- Continually develops professional skills by assuming responsibility for ongoing continuing education.
- Assigns and supervises the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Advises and consults with the family, inter-intradisciplinary team members, physicians, and other professionals, as appropriate, to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintains and completes all documentation promptly and accurately including visit assessment, OASIS, , and Verbal Orders on the laptop device or in written documentation while in the patient's home and within the agency and regulatory standards. Data syncs (transmits) information same day.
- Provide occupational therapy services and participates in the development of an occupational therapy plan of treatment including modalities, frequency, and treatment in collaboration with the referring physician for patients from birth to geriatrics to assist the patient in obtaining maximum functional independence within the standards of occupational therapy.
- Evaluates, plan, and treats patients in an effective Occupational Therapy Program including the use of modalities and assistive devices within the Standards of Occupational Therapy Practice.
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association; or is eligible for the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association; or two years of appropriate experience as an occupational therapist, and has achieved a satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted, approved, or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service, except that such determinations of proficiency do not apply with respect to persons initially licensed by a State or seeking initial qualification as an occupational therapist after December 31, , required.
- One year of Occupational Therapy experience to practice without supervision or less than one year if practicing under supervision, i.e., ALF/PCH, is required.
- Basic Life Support OR Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- National Board Certification in Occupational therapy preferred.
- Member of the American Occupational therapy association is preferred.
- CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
