    THE POSITION


    Are you experienced in the field of maintenance and passionate about ensuring that those around you live and work in a clean and safe environment? The Department of Human Services (DHS), Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, North Central Secure Treatment Unit, is looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic individual who is committed to taking pride in keeping the building and grounds safe from hazards, comfortable for residents, practical for employees, and appealing to visitors.

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK


    In this position, you will perform semi-skilled and skilled work in several trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, and the electrical trades, both indoors and outdoors, to keep the buildings and grounds safe for residents and staff.

    You will repair doors, doorframes, and furniture; paint indoor and outdoor surfaces; install electrical circuits and fixtures; repair and install plumbing fixtures; maintain and repair heating and cooling systems; repair roofs, spouting and flashing; maintain the lawn and remove snow; and perform masonry work on buildings, foundations, walkways and walls.

    You will also maintain equipment and tools in good working condition and make minor repairs as needed.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Full-time employment. 37.5 hours per week
    • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
    • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

    Special Requirement:

    • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's license.
