    Job Summary

    The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time associate or assistant professor of practice in theatrical design and technology, non-tenure track.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teach courses within the Theatre Design and Technology area and/or other courses as assigned. Supervise scenic painting and props for all productions. Supervision of student design and technology assignments. Serve as scenic paint and properties shops supervisor and oversee relevant practicum areas for all productions. Serve on department committees. Reports to the Chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. Required Qualifications MFA in theatrical design. Experience teaching at the college/university level.

    Professional experience as a scenic designer/scenic artist and/or related areas of design and technology such as props design, scenic painting, drafting and graphic design technologies, sound design and technology, production management or stage management.

    Working knowledge of VectorWorks, drawing, rendering, painting, and model building. Administration/supervisory experience/capabilities, good communication and collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications Ability to grow our curriculum in drafting, modeling, environmentally conscious design and production, spatial design, installation design, and emerging technologies in computer aided design, and computer aided machining workflows.

    Experience and/or interest in curriculum development in the areas of props design, scenic painting, drafting, stagecraft, and/or theatre history and theory.
