Sargent College invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, renewable, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position in the Programs in Nutrition. The position is housed within the Department of Health Sciences and will start in Fall 2024.

    Applicant's scholarly work may focus in a variety of areas, such as:

    • addressing social, behavioral, policy-level and/or environmental determinants of nutritional health to promote health equity in the U.S. and globally,
    • identifying inequalities in nutritional risk factors or nutrition-related health outcomes among marginalized populations,
    • supporting dietary guidance for diverse populations that operationalizes cultural competence,
    • epidemiologic investigations of diet-disease relationships, including those involving population data sciences,
    • evaluating clinical nutrition services, social-behavioral nutrition interventions, and nutrition and health-related outcomes throughout the lifecycle.

    Clinical faculty at BU are expected to teach, carry out scholarly activities, advise students, and participate in service, demonstrating a commitment to our institutional values regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. We are seeking an individual committed to building upon our established excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, advising, and mentoring. The individual hired for this position will teach three courses per semester, advise graduate and/or undergraduate students, and collegially support the Programs in Nutrition. The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in teaching, mentoring students, and a history of working collaboratively in order to enhance the esteemed quality of the BU Programs in Nutrition. Course instruction may include but is not limited to Human Nutrition Science; Food, Supplements and Consumer Health; and Nutrition and Chronic Disease Prevention: A Lifecourse Approach.

    Required Skills

    The successful candidate will have the following required skills:

    • PhD, ScD, DrPH, DCN or other relevant doctoral degree; advanced ABD considered
    • Evidence of scholarly activity with the potential to develop and sustain independent and/or collaborative scholarship at BU
    • Teaching experience at the college/university undergraduate and/or graduate level, informed by strong evaluations of teaching competence
    • Deep experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist working in clinical or public health practice

    * Previous mechanical experience highly preferred but willing to train
    * Previous experience in Basic Electricity, Pneumatics, Mechanical Power Transmission, Welding
    * Proficient in trouble shooting
    * Education/Experience in the use of measurement tools and instruments
