    Job Summary: Performs all duties of a licensed pharmacist; ensures the safety, security, and integrity of all medication; ensures strict adherence to all laws and regulations governing the dispensing and sale of pharmaceuticals; Upholds all Company policies and standard operating procedures.

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Reviews prescriptions issued by a physician or other authorized prescriber to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of medication, strength, dose, and directions of use.
    • Evaluates and answers questions, providing patients/customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of medications.
    • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of drugs designated as hazardous waste.
    • Instructs interns, students, and other personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy.
    • Directs and oversees all pharmacy personnel engaged in labeling, packaging, and mixing pharmaceuticals.
    • Ensures that the pharmacy complies with the HIPAA laws/rules/regulations, the laws/rules/regulations of the board of pharmacy and/or regulatory agencies, and abides by and enforces all company policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
    • Assists in reviewing and controlling expenses with the pharmacy manager and pharmacy operations manager and takes appropriate loss prevention measures to identify and minimize profit loss.
    • Ensures that good communication is maintained between associates, store management, and the retail support center staff.
    • Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients as needed.
    • Ensures all company programs, philosophies and company image are carried out and maintained and fosters good relationships in the community, and collaborates with other health care providers.
    Other Job Duties:
    • Administers vaccinations as appropriate, following established professional, federal, and state protocols.
    • Fosters a harmonious positive work environment and provides a safe and sanitary environment for customers and associates.
      • Maintains their license in accordance to federal and state regulations.
      • Keeps up to date on new medication information as well as legislative changes.
      • Assists the pharmacy manager in maintaining appropriate inventory levels and removes outdated and damaged medication from available stock.
      • Participates in medication management by monitoring drug therapies, performing drug utilization reviews and advising on interventions.
      • Record keeping and other administrative tasks. Reports prescriptions misadventures immediately and adheres to company policy regarding medication incidents.
      • Other duties may be assigned as Pharmacist-in-charge (may include technician related duties depending on volume and available staff).
    Job Requirements and Qualifications:
    • Education, Licensure: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university of Pharmacy; active state pharmacist license in good standing; Vaccination certified.
    • Availability and Punctuality: Available to work regularly scheduled shifts Monday-Friday 8am-8pm and Sat-Sun 8am-5:30pm. Occasionally, an adjusted work schedule is required to accommodate Company needs. Is consistently at work and on time.
    • Reasoning and Proficiency: Must demonstrate ability to understand, interpret, and apply an extensive array of information, variables, and instruction where only limited standardization exists to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must demonstrate proficiency and productivity in a fast paced environment with unscheduled interruptions while maintaining judgment, responsibility, and assumption for decisions, consequences and results. Applicant must demonstrate good organization, time management, and communication skills.
    • Communication and Customer Service: Must show the ability to foster professional working relationships utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills organization-wide. Speaks clearly and respectfully in positive or negative situations; Able to write clearly and read and interpret written information; Listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Consults regularly with the pharmacy manager for the purpose of maximizing sales and controlling expenses for the department. Communicates with supervisors on progress and integrity of pharmacy and Company policies to ensure consistency. Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs and solicits feedback to improve service. Maintains at all times, the confidentiality of protected patient health information (PHI).
    • Technical Skills: Pursues training and development opportunity, keeping abreast of new medications, changing laws, regulations, and any pharmacy related topics through participation in continuing education courses and reviewing pharmacy related literature; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Must demonstrate proficient ability and practical knowledge of computer use, word processing, and system software.
    • Professionalism: Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of status and position; Accepts responsibility for own actions and follows through on commitments; Exudes professionalism consistent with Company standards in dress, personal appearance, and grooming; Monitors their own work to ensure quality.
    • Physical Demands: Must demonstrate the ability to work in a standard pharmacy setting and use standard office equipment. Requires stamina to maintain attention to detail despite numerous interruptions. Must have the strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 20 pounds. Close vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Ability to hear and speak in person and over the phone. Manual dexterity to perform job functions.
