- Provides nutrition and lactation counseling in English and Spanish for WIC clients including nutrition assessment, development of care plans, nutrition education, and follow-up. Appointments are conducted in-person or virtually.
- Responsible for the training and clinical supervision of the WIC Community Nutritionists.
- Trains, clinically supervises, and evaluates WIC Nutrition Assistants, Dietetic Interns and Student Volunteers.
- Assists the WIC/Nutrition Director in the development of protocols for nutrition care, based on State WIC guidelines and recommendations.
- Utilizes programs/applications like Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Voice, Doximity, etc to support participant services. Supports staff in accessing and using these programs.
- Provides some coverage for WIC nutrition staff when they are out sick or on vacation.
- Supervises the nutrition component of the Farmers Market Coupon distribution.
- Serves as a resource for health center staff and community agencies. Acts as a liaison between State agency and the local program on nutritional issues.
- Conducts WIC nutrition outreach visits and presentations with the Community Coordinator.
- Participates in select Health Center and State Agency committees; attends appropriate Health Center meetings, State agency meetings and continuing education programs. Helps plan and participates in WIC/Nutrition Department meetings.
- Participates in Quality Assurance program for WIC services, including PDSA projects and monitoring Hemocue protocols.
- Develops nutrition education materials as needed.
- Supports health center nutrition services' activities like National Nutrition Month promotion.
- 1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nutrition. LDN or RD preferred, but not required.
- 2. Two years of experience in community nutrition and prior WIC experience strongly preferred.
- 3. Ability to provide nutrition counseling in Spanish
- 4. Availability to work at multiple WIC sites, including occasional weekend and evening hours, as needed.
- 5. Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and technology skills.
