Full Time WIC Senior Nutritionist at Brookside Community Health Center

Brookside is currently hiring for a WIC Senior Nutritionist to join our WIC-Nutrition department.

The WIC Senior Nutritionist is responsible for the clinical component of the WIC Nutrition Program, under the supervision of the WIC/Nutrition Director.

This role is a mix of direct nutrition counseling and administrative tasks. The position is based onsite with flexibility for 1-2 days remote work. Come join our diverse team in this rewarding role


Job Responsibilities:

• Provides nutrition and lactation counseling in English and Spanish for WIC clients including nutrition assessment, development of care plans, nutrition education, and follow-up. Appointments are conducted in-person or virtually.
• Responsible for the training and clinical supervision of the WIC Community Nutritionists.
• Trains, clinically supervises, and evaluates WIC Nutrition Assistants, Dietetic Interns and Student Volunteers.
• Assists the WIC/Nutrition Director in the development of protocols for nutrition care, based on State WIC guidelines and recommendations.
• Utilizes programs/applications like Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Voice, Doximity, etc to support participant services. Supports staff in accessing and using these programs.
• Provides some coverage for WIC nutrition staff when they are out sick or on vacation.
• Supervises the nutrition component of the Farmers Market Coupon distribution.
• Serves as a resource for health center staff and community agencies. Acts as a liaison between State agency and the local program on nutritional issues.
• Conducts WIC nutrition outreach visits and presentations with the Community Coordinator.
• Participates in select Health Center and State Agency committees; attends appropriate Health Center meetings, State agency meetings and continuing education programs. Helps plan and participates in WIC/Nutrition Department meetings.
• Participates in Quality Assurance program for WIC services, including PDSA projects and monitoring Hemocue protocols.
• Develops nutrition education materials as needed.
• Supports health center nutrition services' activities like National Nutrition Month promotion.
• 1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nutrition. LDN or RD preferred, but not required.
• 2. Two years of experience in community nutrition and prior WIC experience strongly preferred.
• 3. Ability to provide nutrition counseling in Spanish
• 4. Availability to work at multiple WIC sites, including occasional weekend and evening hours, as needed.
• 5. Strong leadership, teamwork, communication, and technology skills.
