    Established in 1934, OPRA is a statewide non-profit organization representing more than 2,400 parks and recreation professionals and citizen board members from around the state of Ohio.

    The organization exists to serve the members who work daily to contribute to the quality of life of Ohioans by providing quality experiences in parks and recreation.

    OPRA supports these professionals by providing education, advocacy, and opportunities for collaboration.

    The association is funded primarily by membership dues and by attendee, partner, and exhibitor revenue which is connected to the OPRA Annual Conference and Trade Show and other events.

    General Description and Summary

    The Marketing and Project Manager will be responsible for creating and executing a marketing plan for association membership and events and for the planning and execution of the OPRA Annual Conference and other education and training programs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Serves as the staff lead in planning and executing all aspects of the OPRA Annual Conference & Trade Show which is attended by approximately 800 parks and recreation professionals and has annual revenue in excess of $350,000;
    Serves as the staff lead in communicating with members via our quarterly magazine, emailed newsletter, etc. Works with other staff to develop content. Carries out communication strategy as directed by the Executive Director;
    Manages the association's marketing efforts in attracting new members, promoting the Annual Conference and other association events and activating partnership opportunities for members;

    Produces, or manages the production of, all other collateral material necessary to implementing marketing efforts, including but not limited to website, weekly emailed newsletter, event specific email blasts and schedules.

    Leads the planning of other association events including workshops, seminars, regional meetings and certification courses;

    As part of a three person staff team, assists in other areas of association management and member service as needed.

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    Outstanding and demonstrated project management skills including an ability to develop objectives and manage projects within defined timelines;
    Ability to thrive in a "customer first" culture which includes, but is not limited to, understanding customer needs and desires, creating processes for receiving on-going customer input, designing processes which are customer friendly, responding promptly to customer inquiries, etc;
    Creative thinking;
    A marketing orientation. The successful candidate will bring a sophisticated level of understanding of marketing programs and projects to association members;
    Internal drive to achieve. The successful candidate will be able to work with limited supervision in a small office setting. Taking responsibility for projects which are assigned and managing those projects to the desired outcome is essential;
    In a small office setting, all employees are expected to pitch in to assist in a variety of roles;
    Demonstrated experience in graphic design and in the creation of marketing and promotional materials;
    A true team orientation is essential in this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work as part of a small staff team as well as an ability to coherently lead project teams of association member volunteers;
    Ability to create budgets and to work within established budgets;
    Demonstrated experience in long range planning and implementation;
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively. Ability to inspire and be persuasive in the promotion of new ideas, concepts and action plans to influence positive outcomes with both internal and external audiences;
    Strong leadership skills necessary to influence positive outcomes and inspire others including the ability to make effective decisions and to take appropriate action when necessary;
    Ability to exemplify the highest ethical standards in professional and personal conduct.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelors Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Business or a related field is required. Three years experience in marketing, public relations, or event management. Experience in association management, parks and recreation and graphic design are all assets.

    Salary Information
    The salary range for this position is $50,000-$75,500 and will be commensurate with experience.
