- Schematic design of new and innovative projects
- Analyze the hardware and firmware of embedded medical electrical systems with an emphasis on power management, digital and analog controls, and low frequency (500 kHz) high power (500 W) RF amplification
- Participate in firmware creation for programmable logic devices such as DSPs, FPGAs, and CPLDs
- Participate in hardware and firmware design reviews
- Provide design know how for external vendors and supplier development
- Support other groups during integration of hardware, firmware, and software
- Test and troubleshoot PCBAs and system level electrical systems
- Develop, update, and peer-review engineering documents such as instructions, drawings, test procedures and reports
- Learn about Applied Medicals mission and vision and take part in a variety of Applied Learning foundational courses
- Discuss your goals and expectations with your team leaders and read and review all relevant team resources and materials
- Immerse yourself in team meetings and discussions
- Exhibit a strong technical understanding of the product lines and projects

- Handle a variety of projects on your own
- 4 year degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering degree
- Electronics troubleshooting skills with ability to use oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other lab equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate hardware and firmware details to team members of all levels
- Ability to perform individually and in a team environment
- Ability to understand, analyze, and troubleshoot complex systems

Position Description:Areas of responsibility
As an Electrical Engineer I/II at Applied Medical, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components for medical devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the electrical systems meet product requirements and comply with regulatory standards. Additionally, you will contribute to the troubleshooting and resolution of electrical issues, ensuring the safety and reliability of the medical devices.

The Technology and Development Electrical team oversees the product development of the Advanced Surgical Device systems, exemplified through the Voyant Intelligent Energy System. The Technology and Development Electrical team takes products from ideation to production and through maintenance throughout the product's life cycle. Engineers with electrical, software, and computer engineering backgrounds collaborate to design highly optimized embedded systems that meet users' needs without burdensome costs.

The base compensation range for this role is $ $95000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
