- Prepares and carries out diagnostic laboratory tests
- Operates and maintains standard lab equipment
- Takes precise and accurate notes
- Prepares specimens, samples, and collective methods
- Conducts routine maintenance on lab equipment andcalibration
- Conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses ofbody fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, under the supervision of aMedical Technologist
- Performs blood counts, using microscope
- Conducts blood tests for transfusion purposes
- May draw blood from patient's finger, ear lobe, or vein,observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples
- May specialize in hematology, blood bank, cytology,histology, or chemistry
- Other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of Laboratory Technician training withsubsequent certification as a Laboratory Technician preferred.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
