POSITION SUMMARY
Formtech is seeking an onsite Manufacturing/Development Engineer to join their team The Manufacturing/Development Engineer will provide technical assistance in all areas of the Fairview manufacturing facility, including new product development, new material trials, continuous process improvement, setting up full-scale production, and extrusion tooling design and development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Optimizing processes from design to product launch and continual improvement.
Introducing new extruded products, including involvement in design and specification of extrusion and fabrication equipment. tooling, materials, and material development.
Documenting process requirements, setup, and process parameters to assure equipment and plant team are capable of producing quality products.
Implementation of SOP's (standard operating procedures) including standard work, workplace organization, quality, and packaging specifications.
Coordinating continuous improvement and production process refinement efforts.
Assisting production in troubleshooting problems with processes, equipment, and tooling.
Coordinating all applicable product testing verification and ongoing validation to meet product specifications.
Providing specifications for tooling and manufacturing cost estimates to sales.
Serving as a member of the Plant Management team.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
B.S. in Mechanical, Polymer or Chemical Engineering
Experience:
Minimum of five years in a manufacturing environment. Prefer experience in plastic processing.
Computer skills including MS Office Suite and AutoCAD
Mechanical engineering skills; ability to read complicated drawings
In-depth troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Positive attitude, self-motivation, and willingness to help other team members
Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The hours are generally normal business hours Monday to Friday. Must create touchpoints with each shift, especially when new products are released to production. Some weekend work may be required.
Able to work in an office setting, and manufacturing environment with dust, moderate noise, and seasonal temperatures.
May be exposed to other hazards and must take proper precautions, including using PPE, to ensure safety of self and others.
May experience prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.BENEFITS OFFERED
