Tooling Technician - Thermoforming (Night Shift)

• Location: Madison, WI (On-site)
• Pay: $26-$37 per hour + 6%-night shift differential
• Shift: 6:00 PM-6:00 AM, Rotating 12‐hour night shift (Week 1: 36 hours; Week 2: 48 hours with 8 hours built‐in overtime)
• Schedule pattern: Rotating night shift; every other week includes overtime

Join Placon's thermoforming team on the night shift and support CNC machining and precision tooling that keep production running safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for CNC machinists, toolroom technicians, and mechanically skilled tradespeople who want to grow into a toolmaker career through hands‐on experience, cross‐training, and mentorship from experienced toolmakers.

What you'll do

• Operate CNC machines, manual machines, and grinders to produce and maintain precision tooling.
• Assist with tooling repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance; support tooling changeovers for production.
• Perform quality inspection and precision measurement using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and related tools.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to plan and verify work.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and support overnight production.
• Maintain toolroom organization, documentation, and a safe, clean work area.

What you'll bring

• Experience with CNC machining, toolroom operations, mechanical repair, or related skilled trades work.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools confidently.
• Willingness to work a rotating 12‐hour night shift (6 PM-6 AM).
• Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and problem‐solving skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and a collaborative approach with production teams.
