    Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California . The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea.     Stevenson School is seeking a Mathematics Teacher, Grades 5-8, to start in August 2024. The successful candidate will have a high level of content expertise, along with prior experience in developing and delivering comprehensive curriculum, lesson plans, and student-centered teaching of mathematics to middle school students, including pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. An interest in and ability to teach computer science and/or support the School's robotics team is a considerable plus. The teacher will be a member of our middle school faculty team on the Carmel campus.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Teach mathematics curriculum to students in assigned grade-level sections
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver a comprehensive, critical inquiry based, problem-centered curriculum with shared skills alignment and assessment measures
    • Support student learning by incorporating a variety of pedagogical approaches to facilitate understanding across an array of learning styles
    • Develop students' critical thinking, intellectual, and social and emotional skills
    • Collaborate with learning specialists and division head to identify and support those students requiring additional resources or enrichment activities to promote optimal engagement with their learning
    • Working with a group of 8-10 students annually to provide a robust and meaningful advisory experience
    • Contribute talents and skills to the School in additional capacities which may include coaching and/or participation in after-school programming
    • Communicate with students, parents, and colleagues in a timely and professional manner
    • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:
      • A bachelor's degree in mathematics, education, or related; master's preferred
      • A minimum of 3-years of previous mathematics teaching at a similar grade level
      • Excellent classroom management skills
      • Working knowledge of mathematics-specific software such as Geogebra, Desmos, Wolfram Alpha, etc.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with all members of the community
      • Demonstrated interest in being part of a collaborative team
      • Willingness and ability to contribute meaningfully to co-curricular activities
      • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work
      • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of all aspects of information disseminated within or external to the school community
      • Demonstrated confidence and aptitude with the use of instructional technology, such as Google Tools and related resources
      • Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community The anticipated annual salary for this position is $52,000 - $125,000, based on experience. In addition to competitive salary, Stevenson is pleased to provide a comprehensive benefits package including Anthem Blue Cross health insurance plans and generous retirement plan contributions. Housing support is offered for eligible employees and a monthly fuel stipend is provided for employees who commute to campus. Resources to support advanced degree work, as well as opportunities to participate in professional conferences, workshops, summer study, and travel, are also available.
