    Baskervill is a multidisciplinary Architecture and Design firm seeking a Specifications Writer who thrives at the intersection of design and construction. This individual transforms technical information into clear specifications guiding the building process. A collaborative environment with a strong understanding of design principles, construction processes, and technical language is essential. The ideal candidate articulates complex concepts clearly and professionally, working behind the scenes to ensure design intent translates into construction.

    The Specifications team collaborates with design studios to provide innovative solutions for design challenges. Minimal travel is required, including occasional conferences and industry events. We seek a skilled Specifications Writer excited to join our creative, tight-knit team committed to delivering exceptional results on every project.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with internal Design teams to gather information and requirements for Project Manuals across various Market Segments.
    • Develop and edit detailed Architectural Specifications for projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends and advancements in materials and technology.
    • Respond to internal design teams seeking solutions for Materials and Specifications inquiries.
    • Coordinate and publish specification documents, including those prepared by consultants.
    • Utilize online and internal resources to collaborate with representatives for product research.
    • Coordinate schedules and deadlines with internal teams and external consultants.
    • Incorporate federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, statutory, and documentation requirements into specifications.
    • Develop in-house templates and assist with training document development.

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of professional experience.
    • Bachelor of Architecture or Building Construction required; licensed or on track for licensure preferred.
    • Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) or Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Speclink or Specpoint preferred.
    • Experience with reading and interpreting Project Manuals required.
    • Knowledge of AIA Masterspec, national building codes, AIA documents, and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Project Delivery Practice Guide.
    • Working knowledge of construction techniques and building envelope.
    • Experience with sustainability requirements such as LEED, WELL.
    • Experience working with governmental agencies and building/zoning codes preferred.
    • Understanding of professional practices, potential liabilities in design and construction, and professional ethics.
