Post-Doctoral Position:
Surgical Robotics
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled post-doctoral researcher to join our cutting-edge research team in the development of advanced robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery.
The research aims to bring high-level automation to surgical procedures by combining advances in robot design, model-based tissue mechanics, computer vision, and machine learning.

The successful candidate will work closely with a large and multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians across four different institutions to revolutionize automation in robotic surgery, working on a state-of-the-art robotic platform which is on the path to FDA clearance.
The primary focus of this position will be on incorporating state-of-the-art real-time tissue mechanics models into the perception framework for an automated robotic system.
A secondary focus is the development and experimental evaluation of customized robotic instruments and automated motion-planning and control strategies for surgical subtasks.
The candidate will also be required to work with and supervise graduate students, prepare research reports, communicate with research sponsors, and prepare high-quality scholarly work for publication in top journals.
This post-doctoral position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research at the forefront of robotics and surgical technology.
The position is initially offered for a one-year term, with the opportunity for extension up to three years, based on performance and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading funded research program:
Lead the performance of activities to accomplish the objectives of projects funded by ARPA-H and NIH.
Developing scholarly work:
lead the development of top-quality publications and patent applications.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with team members and external partners. Present research findings in conferences, workshops, and academic journals. Regularly present results to research sponsors.
Mentoring and guiding graduate and undergraduate students: Help graduate and undergraduate students develop and overcome obstacles to complete all educational and research objectives.
Requirements:
Ph.
D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: mechanics-based modeling and simulation of elastic materials, robotics, medical imaging, image processing, computer vision, image-guided surgical technology, control systems, and mechatronics, surgical tool design.
Demonstrated track record of research excellence through publications in reputable conferences and journals.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and independently drive research projects.
Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
