    Description

    Responsibilities:
    Assists physician/nurse with Endoscopic procedures. a) Prepare patient for moderate sedation. b) Assists in positioning patient for procedure. c) Assists patient in maintaining position during procedure. d) Prepares scopes according to established procedures/protocols. e) Prepares and demonstrates proper use of all equipment and instruments for specific Endoscopic procedure. Cares for specimens as directed. a) Participates in the proper care of Endoscopy specimens as established by policy and procedure or as directed by the endoscopist. b) Reports to Endoscopy nurse type and origin of specimen. c) Maintains/restocks all necessary equipment in procedure room. Performs necessary clean up between procedures. a) Performs responsibilities related to clean up and room turn over between cases in a timely and efficient manner. b) Prepares equipment necessary for specific procedure proficiently and in a timely and efficient manner. Safeguards physical integrity and safety of patients. a) Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected. b) Maintains adherence to universal precautions and proceduresKnowledge of care and functioning of endoscopes used. Proper cleaning, handling and storage of endoscopes. Demonstrates proficiency in testing functionality of all equipment prior to start of procedure. d. Maintains patient safety. Maintains orderliness of Endoscopy Suite. a) Restocks equipment in room according to procedure room needs. b) Restocks procedure room on a daily basis. c) Maintains equipment PAR in procedure room consistently. d) Assist with transportation when needed. e) Place orders for endoscopy supplies and equipment consistently in a timely manner. f) Reports defective equipment in a timely manner. Responsible for setting up procedure rooms, the layout of supplies, selection of proper scopes


    Education/Experience:
    High school graduate or equivalent
    Minimum of three years of experience in patient care preferred
    BLS - AHA approved
