We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic RVN to join our excellent and dedicated Ophthalmology Service.
You'll become part of our Specialist-led multi-disciplinary clinical team, which includes highly motivated residents, specialty and general interns, highly skilled nurses, and incredible support teams.
Our service boasts fully equipped Ophthalmology-specific consulting rooms, as well as an Ophthalmology surgical suite complete with slit lamp biomicroscopes, direct and indirect ophthalmoscopes, a fundus camera, an anterior segment camera/macro-lens, tonometers (tonovets and tonopens), gonioscopy lenses, an ERG machine, an operating microscope with a viewing screen, a phacoemulsification machine, and a cryotherapy unit.
The ophthalmology caseload includes a wide variety of cases, both medical and surgical (uveitis, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal ulcers, eyelid diseases, lens luxation, ocular neoplasia, retrobulbar disease, emergency cases - road traffic accidents, neuro-ophthalmic cases, diabetic cataracts, cases with ocular manifestation of systemic disease e.g., hypertensive retinopathies) and ophthalmology surgeries including phacoemulsification or glaucoma surgery (gonio implant placement).
Key duties and tasks include:
The ophthalmology nurse will lead ophthalmology-specific inpatient care and assist the clinician during consults and if needed in theatre.
The ophthalmology nurse will be required to conduct sedations and anaesthetic recoveries for ophthalmology cases, and support other departments as directed by your line manager.
Comprehensive and well-structured training in veterinary ophthalmology will be provided.Benefits:
