    The Petersen lab is a lively trans-disciplinary team that works across the fields of epidemiology, microbiology, immunology, and human and veterinary infectious diseases.

    For this group to thrive, it is important that we are grounded by robust infrastructure for our work, as embodied by the lab coordinator.

    The Research Scientist will be responsible for basic lab maintenance, ordering, and organization including aiding team veterinarians and other lab staff in fieldwork preparation, logistics and maintaining a well-equipped lab and field site(s).

    It is preferred that the candidate have experience and interest in diagnostic testing and quality control and assurance of this testing.


    Minimum Education Required:


    Requires a PhD or an equivalent combination of education and experience in veterinary medicine, public health, molecular biology, or a related field.


    Required Qualifications:
    10-15 years of research or laboratory experience; time management and organizational skills specifically related to laboratory management; good verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking experience; diagnostic lab techniques (i.e. ELISA, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR); experience with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite.


    Desired Qualifications and Education:
    Basic knowledge of epidemiology, public health, or infectious diseases; data management program expertise and/or data coding abilities.


    Additional Information:
    This is an up to 3-year term with option to renew based on funds and mutual interest.
