Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) for School-Based Positions in North Carolina

Job Responsibilities (SLP):

Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' speech and language abilities.

Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and educational goals.

Provide direct therapy services using evidence-based practices to address speech, language, fluency, and other communication disorders.

Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other school staff to support students' development and progress.

Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute expertise to the development and review of students' educational plans.

Job Responsibilities (SLPA):

Assist Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in implementing therapy sessions and interventions as outlined in students' treatment plans.

Provide support during therapy sessions, including managing materials, facilitating activities, and documenting student progress.

Collaborate with the SLP and other school personnel to ensure the delivery of effective therapy services.

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and therapy sessions as the supervising SLP directs.

Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for therapy sessions and educational activities.

Qualifications:

For SLP: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) and state licensure are required.

For SLPA: Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field. State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is required.

Experience working in a school-based setting is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions for speech and language disorders.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.
