    Description

    Summary/Objective: The General Manager of Broadband Services will direct the activities of the fiber to the premise subsidiary, implement the fiber to the home project, as well as oversee the company's operational functions after deployment. This position determines objectives and establishes operating procedures to create and maintain financial soundness and profitability while ensuring optimum service to subscribers.

    Essential Functions: Specific duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement business strategies to improve service delivery, expand market share, and increase profitability. This includes setting long-term goals and identifying opportunities for growth.
    • Oversee the company's operational functions, including network deployment, maintenance, customer support, and service provisioning. Ensure that the operations are efficient and effective to meet customer demands.
    • Prepare and manage the company's budget, ensuring financial health. This includes monitoring revenue, controlling costs, and making investments in infrastructure and technology to support business growth.
    • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining reliable broadband services and providing excellent customer support. Address customer complaints and feedback promptly and effectively.
    • Lead and motivate a team of professionals across various departments such as technical, customer service, sales, and marketing. Foster a positive work environment, provide training and development opportunities, and manage performance.
    • Ensure that the company complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to telecommunications and broadband services. This includes privacy regulations and data protection standards.
    • Keep abreast of market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape. Adjust strategies and operations to maintain a competitive edge in the broadband market.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of the broadband network infrastructure. Invest in new technologies and innovations to improve service quality and expand service coverage.
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including the board of directors, Lac du Flambeau Tribal Community Membership, government agencies, industry partners, suppliers, and community leaders.
    • Regularly monitor FCC regulations and guidelines, especially changes in the Universal Service Fund (USF) and Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), to understand their impact on operations and financial planning
    • Identify and apply for USF subsidies, ACP benefits, and other grants to support sustainability and growth. Ensure compliance with program requirements and manage the reporting and accountability of funds received.
    • Implement contingency plans for operational crises, ensuring minimal disruption and effective communication with customers and stakeholders.
    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    The Manager of Broadband Services oversees a team responsible for service installations and fiber buildout, ensuring quality and efficiency. This role involves team leadership, performance management, and collaboration with other departments, focusing on achieving high standards of service delivery.

    Position Requirements

    Expectations/Abilities:
    • Possess and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of business principles and practices required to manage a fiber to the premises business. This includes but is not limited to sales, operations, customer service, communications, and process development.
    • Demonstrated abilities with budgeting, general accounting, fiscal management practices, office procedures, and business operating systems.
    • Demonstrated ability using appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of business circumstances.
    • Must be able to implement fiber to the premise deployment plan and ongoing business operations including but not limited to establishing and implementing policies, procedures, organizational structures, staffing, processes, and management reporting and controls.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work directly with the public and company personnel.
    • Must communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all organizational levels both in the utility and its subsidiaries and with outside contractors and vendors.
    • Must have proven ability to plan and organize work to meet deadlines, all with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • A wide degree of creativity and flexibility is expected.
    • Interpreting legal documents and government regulations
    • Evaluating fiscal and financial reports, forms, and data
    • Must be able to resolve administrative problems and effectively delegate duties to achieve results.
    • Understands the concept of providing quality services to our members and subscribers and agrees to maintain a continuing commitment to superior customer service.
    Required Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or Information Technology.
    • At least 5-10 years of experience in the telecommunications or broadband industry, with a clear track record of success in managing operations, leading teams, and executing strategic projects.
    • Proven experience in a leadership role, such as a Director or Senior Manager, overseeing cross-functional teams, managing budgets, and developing business strategies. Experience in navigating complex regulatory environments and securing funding or grants is also crucial.
    • A strong understanding of broadband technologies, network infrastructure, and the latest trends in the telecom industry. Familiarity with the technical challenges of extending broadband services to remote or underserved areas.
    • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
    Preferred Education and Experience:
    • An MBA or a master's degree in a related field such as Telecommunications Management or Information Systems..
    Experience in rural or underserved areas, especially working with Tribal Communities,

    A combination of experience and education may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

    Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
    Work Conditions: Inside position with usual office working conditions but may require outside work. Work outside of normal business hours may be required. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods while using computers and office equipment, which can cause muscle strain. Position may be required to lift and carry supplies from time to time.

    Travel: May require travel within the service territory in addition to occasional overnight travel.
