Job SummaryUnder the Direct supervision of the Associate Dean for Extension/Administrator, the Extension Program Leader supervises Family and Consumer Sciences state and county staff; works closely with faculty and staff in all phases of the College of Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology.
Duties and Responsibilities Provides administrative and program leadership for developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive statewide Extension program for low income, limited resource and underserved audiences.Responsibilities also include budget review; personnel administration; staff development; employee relations; liaison with local government, state and federal agencies and non-governmental organizations; supervision of clerical, technical, specialists and county staff and knowledge and ability to obtain and manage multi-institutional grants and external funds.Qualifications Minimum:
Masters degree in Family & Consumer Sciences or an appropriate related field
Strong demonstrated Extension programming and administrative leadership skillsAn understanding of and ability to communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated abilities in the area of planning, organizing, motivating and team building. Substantial knowledge of organization, operation, philosophy and goals of Extension. Ability to be creative and innovative in design and implementation of effective educational programs. A comprehensive understanding of higher education, knowledge of and experience in the land-grant community, and demonstrated capability to cultivate relationships with local, state, regional, natlonal and international constituents.Valid driver's licensePreferred:- Doctorate degree in Family & Consumer Sciences
Working conditions
Physical requirements
Must possess mobility to work in an office setting, as well as, outdoors and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle to visit various sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
Standing and walking are frequently required; must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds with the use of proper equipment.
