  • Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Environmental Education Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA the Environmental Education Center Instructor is responsible for delivering a safe, welcoming, and customized program for schools that participate in the YMCA Camp Thunderbird Environmental Education program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Act as a positive ambassador for all visiting teachers, chaperones, and participants.Actively participate in all trainings and in-services to develop proficiencies necessary to perform job responsibilities.Adhere to program curriculum and concepts when working with groups.Provide a safe environment for all participants and staff and orient all visitors to the facility and its safety procedures.Promote a culture of feedback and respect amongst the team and with groups participating in camp activities.Work with diverse clientele.Facilitate environmental education, adventure activities, teambuilding, and other programs.Maintain a good working relationship with other instructors, administrative staff, maintenance staff, and leaders.Cooperate in maintaining the grounds, and seeing that facility equipment is used properly and returned promptly in good condition.Assist with mealtime and evening responsibilities.
